The NXP U9 Flexible Printable On-Metal UHF RFID Label 80x40mm (Model: U9-ONM-8040) is an industrial-grade, flexible on-metal smart label engineered for IT asset tracking, server chassis, metallic machinery, steel shipping bins, and aerospace maintenance tools. Powered by the high-sensitivity NXP UCODE 9 silicon IC, this label incorporates an internal ferrite shielding and magnetic decoupling layer that allows it to operate directly on metallic and conductive surfaces where standard RFID tags suffer total signal attenuation.
1. Ferrite Isolation Layer & RF Physical Performance
Operating across the broadband UHF band (860 MHz to 960 MHz, optimized for Indian 865–867 MHz WPC channels), the label integrates an ultra-thin 1.0 mm synthetic ferrite elastomer barrier between the aluminum antenna and the metal substrate. This redirects electromagnetic eddy currents and maintains an impressive read distance of 4.0 to 7.0 meters directly on steel, aluminum, and cast iron.
2. Flexible Construction for On-Demand Industrial Thermal Printing
Unlike rigid ABS brick tags that require manual adhesive tape application, the U9-ONM-8040 is flexible and thin enough to be fed directly through standard industrial RFID printers (including Zebra ZT411 On-Metal edition, SATO CL4NX Plus, and Printronix T6000e). IT and warehouse personnel can print serialized 2D DataMatrix barcodes, human-readable asset numbers, and encode EPC memory in a single pass. The label is coated with a high-shear 3M acrylic adhesive, ensuring long-term adhesion to powder-coated and raw metal surfaces.
