Project Overview: Automotive Tier-1 Manufacturing Facility (Pune)

A major automotive components supplier located in the Pune industrial zone, Maharashtra, uses hundreds of heavy iron trolleys to transport metal stampings to various assembly lines and client factories. These expensive, reusable iron containers frequently went missing or remained stuck at customer sites for weeks. Because tracking was handled through manual registers, the yard managers never knew exactly how many trolleys were in the facility, how many were out, and which customer was holding them.

The Solution: Outdoor UHF Gates & Heavy Duty Tags

RFID Softwares deployed a rugged asset tracking system. We fitted each iron trolley with our heavy-duty UHF Anti-Metal RFID Tags, bolted onto the steel frames to withstand outdoor weather. We installed fixed RFID reader gates equipped with high-performance circular-polarized antennas at the main shipping gates. When a transport truck loaded with trolleys passes through the gate, the fixed reader logs every trolley ID automatically, linking the shipment to the customer account.

Technical Setup: circular Polarization & Portal Antennas

The system utilizes our industrial-grade Fixed RFID Reader mounted in weatherproof IP66-rated enclosures. Circularly polarized antennas were selected to ensure tags are read reliably regardless of the trolley's orientation on the truck bed. The software middleware filters duplicate reads and automatically updates a central dashboard showing real-time fleet locations.

Results: 100% Asset Visibility

Since deployment, the trolley loss rate has dropped to zero. Automatic shipping logs have eliminated disputes with customers regarding container returns. Dock loading throughput increased by 40%, and the manufacturer extended the lifespan of their trolleys by 25% through automated maintenance logs tied to trolley cycle counts.

Rugged IP67 Anti-Metal Tag Mounting

At an automotive manufacturing hub in Pune, heavy steel transport trolleys move component parts between sub-assembly plants. RFID Softwares riveted high-impact IP67 UHF anti-metal tags to the structural frame of over 1,200 industrial trolleys.

High-Speed Dock Gate Portal Antennas

Fixed 4-port UHF readers and circular-polarized panel antennas were mounted at factory exit/entry gates. When transport trucks carry loaded trolleys through the gate, the portal reads all asset tags in less than 1 second.

Returnable Asset Loss Elimination Results

Trolley shrinkage fell from 12% annually to zero. Plant managers maintain real-time visibility over trolley location and cycle times across regional supplier facilities.
