Description

The UHF Desktop RFID Reader and Writer USB Tag Programmer (Model: PRD_HW_UHF_DESKTOP) is a compact, high-precision RAIN UHF desktop reader, tag encoder, and issue station engineered for warehouse shipping desks, retail POS checkout counters, jewelry inventory registration, document tracking, and enterprise asset tagging. Powered by an integrated high-performance RAIN UHF engine and short-range near-field antenna, this desktop programmer encodes and verifies UHF tags safely at the operator desk without accidentally reading neighboring tags in the room.

1. Near-Field Precision Antenna & Zero-Cross-Read Physics

Standard UHF antennas have wide beams that read tags up to 10 meters away, making desktop tag programming prone to cross-reading adjacent stock. The PRD_HW_UHF_DESKTOP features an engineered shielded near-field ceramic antenna with software-adjustable output power (0 to +26 dBm), restricting the read zone strictly to 5 cm to 50 cm directly above the pad.

2. Dual USB HID Keyboard & High-Speed Developer SDK Modes

The device connects via USB and supports dual operation: USB HID Keyboard Emulation Mode (types scanned EPC or TID data into web portals or ERPs without drivers) and Direct SDK Command Mode (allows bulk writing of EPC memory, password locking, and TID serialization in C#, Python, Java, and web apps). Operating across 860 MHz to 960 MHz, it is fully certified for Indian WPC 865–867 MHz regulations.

Questions

How does this desktop reader avoid reading other RFID tags in the room while encoding?
The reader uses a shielded, low-gain near-field antenna and low-power RF settings (0 to +20 dBm) that confine the electromagnetic field strictly to a 5–30 cm zone directly above the pad, eliminating accidental cross-reading of adjacent inventory.
Can this desktop writer encode EPC memory and lock tags with passwords?
Yes. Using our free Windows tag programming software or developer SDK, you can write serialized EPC numbers, populate User memory, and configure 32-bit Access and Kill passwords in under 25 milliseconds per tag.
Can I use this reader to scan tags directly into Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. In USB HID Keyboard Wedge mode, tapping a tag on the pad instantly types the EPC or TID number into any active spreadsheet cell or web form followed by an Enter key, requiring no custom software.
What is the HSN Code and GST rate for desktop UHF tag programmers in India?
Desktop UHF readers are classified under HSN Code 84719000 with an 18% GST rate. RFID Softwares provides full GST invoices, encoding software, and technical SDK support.
Does the reader require an external power supply or power brick?
No. The device is powered entirely through the standard 5V USB connection from your computer or POS terminal, making it completely portable and easy to deploy.
