Description

The RFID Self-Checkout Kiosk Terminal for Libraries and Retail (Model: PRD_HW_KIOSK) is an all-in-one, touchscreen interactive self-service terminal designed for public libraries, university resource centers, luxury retail boutiques, corporate micro-markets, and smart canteens. Featuring an ergonomic powder-coated steel floor kiosk housing a bright 21.5-inch Full HD capacitive touchscreen, high-speed RFID multi-tag scanner, 80mm thermal receipt printer, and optical barcode/QR reader, this kiosk empowers patrons to complete borrow, return, and checkout transactions in seconds.

1. High-Speed Multi-Item Stack Interrogation Physics

Equipped with an integrated shielded High-Frequency (ISO 15693 / ISO 14443A) or RAIN UHF RFID flatbed scanning pad, the kiosk reads an entire stack of 5 to 10 books or apparel items simultaneously in under 1.0 second without requiring items to be scanned one by one. The shielded scanning bay prevents accidental reading of items carried by passersby.

2. Seamless Koha ILS / Retail POS Integration & Patron Authentication

The terminal includes an integrated smart card / barcode reader for patron authentication (scanning student ID cards, RFID employee badges, or library cards). Communicating via 3M SIP2, NCIP, and REST APIs, it automatically updates library records, deactivates EAS anti-theft security bits, and prints detailed transaction receipts.

Questions

How does the self-checkout kiosk interact with the Koha Library Management System?
The kiosk connects to Koha via the 3M SIP2 protocol (Port 6001). When a patron scans their library card and places a stack of books on the RFID pad, the kiosk checks out the items in Koha and automatically deactivates their EAS anti-theft bits.
Can patrons borrow multiple books at once without scanning barcodes individually?
Yes. The shielded RFID flatbed scanning pad reads an entire stack of 5 to 10 books simultaneously in under 1 second, making borrowing effortless and eliminating checkout queue congestion.
Can this kiosk be used for retail store self-checkout of apparel and garments?
Yes. When configured with our RAIN UHF RFID flatbed and retail POS software, shoppers can drop an entire basket of clothing into the scanning bay, pay via UPI/credit card, and receive an instant receipt.
What is the HSN Code and GST rate for self-checkout kiosks in India?
Self-service kiosks fall under HSN Code 84714190 / 84719000 with an 18% GST rate. RFID Softwares supplies universities, public libraries, and retail chains across India with complete installation and GST invoicing.
Does the kiosk include a receipt printer and patron barcode scanner?
Yes. The kiosk includes an integrated high-speed 80mm thermal receipt printer with auto-cutter, an omnidirectional 1D/2D barcode reader for digital ID cards, and an NFC smart card reader.
