Project Overview: Wholesale Clothing Stock Challenges

Arihant Traders, a major garment distributor and wholesaler based in New Delhi, handles tens of thousands of apparel items across multiple brand lines daily. Auditing physical inventory was a highly labor-intensive task, requiring days of manual barcode scanning. This delay led to stock discrepancies and delayed order fulfillment for B2B retailers. The company needed a rapid tagging system that would support bulk item scanning and easy EPC (Electronic Product Code) re-encoding for private label shipments.

The Solution: UHF Hangtags & Handheld Auditing

RFID Softwares implemented an Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) RFID tracking solution. We integrated flexible paper UHF tag inlays into the price labels of all garments. To streamline warehouse counts, staff were equipped with ergonomic handheld UHF RFID readers. We developed a custom software application that connects the handheld readers directly to their inventory ERP. This software enables fast tag updates, tag locking, and quick bulk re-encoding of the EPC memory blocks on the showroom or warehouse floor.

Technical Specifications & Hardware Integration

The system utilizes our high-performance [UHF RFID Inlay Tags](/products/rfid-solutions/uhf-inlay-labels/) (PRD_HW_UHF_INLAY) attached directly to garment labels, combined with our rugged [UHF Handheld Reader](/products/rfid-solutions/rfid-handheld-reader-c72-uhf-rfid-reader/) (PRD_1773852620259). Handheld readers communicate over Wi-Fi, allowing workers to walk along warehouse aisles and scan up to 20,000 garments per hour from a distance of up to 6 meters. The custom middleware handles EPC generation matching GS1 SGTIN-96 standards.

Results: Rapid Stock Auditing & Zero Mis-ships

With the new UHF RFID handheld setup, stock count times were cut by 95%. Warehouse audits that previously took three days are now finished in just 30 minutes with 99.8% accuracy. The custom EPC re-encoding feature allows Arihant Traders to print and program custom labels for retail partners on the fly, speeding up B2B dispatch times by 40% and eliminating manual verification mistakes.
